No Strings Attached is boy band 'N Sync's sophomore studio set (and third release overall, including their Christmas album Home for Christmas). When released on March 21, 2000, it shattered sales records in the US. It currently stands as the album with the highest first day sales (1.1 million), highest first week sales (2.41 million) and most albums sold in a single calendar year (9.9 million). The album spawned three successful singles: the radio hit "Bye Bye Bye", the #1 hit "It's Gonna Be Me" and popular ballad "This I Promise You". Band member Justin Timberlake referred to the music contained on the album as "dirty pop" due to its urban influences.
